The price of a custom challenge coin comes down to four things: size, quantity, color and options. Below you'll find our current per-coin prices, an explanation of how each factor affects your total, and the one-time costs to plan for.
Current custom challenge coin prices
These tables load our current per-coin prices. Pick the type of coin you're thinking about: no color (the design is all metal), color on one side, or color on both sides. Find your size on the left and your quantity across the top.

Prices are per coin and include free design, a free proof and free shipping. Ordering more than 1,000 coins? Ask for volume pricing. To total up a whole order, including the mold fee and options, try the order price estimator on our pricing page.
1. Quantity: the biggest factor
Every coin is struck from a custom mold, and setting up production takes the same work whether you order 100 coins or 1,000. That's why the price of each coin drops as your quantity goes up. If you're on the fence between two quantities, compare the totals: ordering more coins often costs only a little more in total, and leaves you extras for new members, guests and future awards.
2. Size
Larger coins use more metal and need a larger mold, so they cost more per coin and have a higher mold fee. Most customers choose 1.75" or 2", which balances detail and price. Not sure which size you need? Read how to choose a challenge coin size.
3. Color
Coins with no enamel color are all metal, with the design raised in relief. Adding color to one side, or to both, adds steps to production and adds to the price. Plenty of great designs use color on the front only, with a classic all-metal back. To decide between them, read die struck vs. color challenge coins.
4. Options and add-ons
Finishes, special enamels, edges and packaging are priced separately so you only pay for what you want. Here are our current add-on prices:
| Option | What it is | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Antique Finish | Aged look that makes raised details pop. | $0.40 per coin |
| Glitter Enamel | Sparkle mixed right into the color fill. | $0.12 per coin |
| Glow Enamel | Glows in the dark after light exposure. | $0.20 per coin |
| Epoxy Coating | Clear protective dome over the color. | $0.30 per side |
| Duo-Tone Metal | Two metal platings on one coin. | $0.90 per side |
| Specialty Edge Cut | Diamond, spur, rope, oblique, bevel diamond or cross cut edge. | $0.30 per side |
| Sequential Numbering | Each coin numbered for limited editions. | $0.35 per coin |
| Keychain Attachment | Carry it every day. | $0.55 per coin |
| Velvet Coin Bag | Soft drawstring gift bag. | $0.60 per coin |
| Coin Capsule | Clear, sturdy acrylic protection. | $1.00 per coin |
| Velvet Presentation Case | Hinged case for ceremonies. | $3.75 per coin |
| Cut Outs | Open spaces cut through the coin (each). | $50.00 each |
| 3D Mold | Sculpted, lifelike relief. Quoted on request. | Quoted on request |
| PVC Coin Pouch with Flap | Included with every coin. | Included |
See photos of each option on the coin options page. Custom shapes, bottle openers and 3D sculpted coins are quoted on request because the cost depends on the design.
The one-time mold fee
Every new design needs a mold. You pay for it once, and we store it for up to 24 months, so re-orders of the same design don't pay the mold fee again. Mold fees depend on size:
| Coin size | One-time mold fee |
|---|---|
| 1.50" coin | $100 |
| 1.75" coin | $125 |
| 2.00" coin | $150 |
| 2.50" coin | $200 |
| 3.00" coin | $300 |
What's included at no extra cost
- Design and artwork: send a logo, photo or sketch and our designers create your coin.
- A full-color proof of both sides, with changes until it's right.
- A PVC pouch for every coin.
- Shipping by air to the address you choose.
- Our 100% Quality Guarantee and 100% Price Match Guarantee.
How to keep your coin budget down
- Choose 1.75" or 2". They're our most popular sizes for a reason.
- Use color on one side. A colorful front with an all-metal back still looks great.
- Order for the year. One larger order costs less per coin than several small ones.
- Reuse your mold. Re-orders within 24 months skip the mold fee.
- Pick options that matter. A specialty edge or glow enamel can make a coin, but you don't need every add-on.
Custom challenge coin cost FAQ
Is there a setup fee besides the mold?
No. The one-time mold fee is the only setup charge. Design, artwork changes and your proof are free.
Why do some coins cost "quoted on request"?
Custom shapes, bottle openers, 3D sculpted coins and printed photo coins vary so much from design to design that a fixed price wouldn't be fair. Send your idea and we'll quote it exactly.
Do I pay the mold fee again for a re-order?
Not if you re-order the same design within 24 months. We keep your mold on file, so a re-order is just the per-coin price.
Do different versions of a design need separate molds?
If the raised metal details change (for example, a different name or year struck into the coin), each version needs its own mold. Changing only enamel colors may not. Ask us and we'll suggest the most economical way to make your versions.
Do you price match?
Yes. Every order is backed by our 100% Price Match Guarantee on a comparable coin.
How do I pay?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Approved orders can be paid on our pay online page.
