Christmas and the winter holidays are the busiest gift-giving season of the year, which makes it hard for any gift to stand out. A custom challenge coin does. It's personal, it lasts, and it carries a message long after the wrapping paper is gone. Businesses, military units, charities and clubs all use holiday coins to thank the people who made their year.
This guide covers holiday coin ideas for customers, employees, service members and causes, plus design tips and when to order so your coins arrive in time.
Holiday coins for customers and clients
Year-end client gifts often end up forgotten in a drawer. A well-designed coin with your logo and a holiday message gets kept, shown off and remembered. Mail one with a card to your best clients, include one in December orders, or hand them out at a customer appreciation event. A coin with the year on it can start a tradition clients look forward to. See our corporate challenge coins for real examples.
Holiday coins for employees
A holiday coin is a thoughtful addition to a year-end bonus, party or awards night. Recognize the whole team with one design, or create special coins for milestones, top performers and years of service. Learn more on our corporate challenge coins page.
Holiday coins for military heroes and their families
Many service members spend the holidays away from home. Units, family readiness groups and support organizations send coins in care packages, present them at holiday gatherings, or give them to the families waiting at home. Unit insignia, a holiday message and the year make a coin that means a lot to someone far from home. See our military and veteran coin pages for ideas.
Holiday coins for charity events
Toy drives, food drives, holiday galas and charity runs all benefit from a coin. Sell them as limited-edition keepsakes, give one to every donor or volunteer, or add sponsor logos to the back to help cover costs. Sequential numbering makes each coin in a limited run unique, and ordering more coins lowers the price of each one.
Coins for winter trips and clubs
Ski trips, winter retreats, polar plunges and snowmobile club rides are all worth remembering. A coin with the place, the date and a winter scene is a souvenir every participant will keep. See our event coins and club coins for more ideas.
Holiday coin design ideas
- Seasonal symbols: snowflakes, evergreen trees, ornaments, stars, candles, holly and wreaths.
- Classic colors: red and green enamel on polished gold, or blue and white on polished silver for a winter look.
- Glitter enamel: perfect for snow, stars and ornaments.
- Custom shapes: a star, a snowflake or an ornament outline makes a coin people want to display.
- A message and the year: "Happy Holidays 2026," "Season's Greetings" or a personal thank-you.
Every coin is fully custom: see all the metals, edges and options on the coin options page.
Make it a gift
Every coin comes in a free PVC pouch. For holiday gifts, a velvet bag, clear coin capsule or velvet presentation case makes the coin feel special the moment it's opened. A keychain attachment turns a coin into something people carry every day. Packaging and add-on prices are on our pricing page.
Start with an idea
You don't need finished artwork. Send a logo, a photo or a rough sketch, and our designers will create your coin for free and send a full-color proof of both sides. Nothing is made until you approve it. Read how one customer went from a napkin sketch to a finished coin.
When to order for the holidays
Once you approve your proof and say "Go!", most orders arrive within 2 weeks, shipped free by air. December is a busy time for shipping, so plan on at least three to four weeks from your first request to delivery, and order in early November if you can.
